Libbhy Romero (right), from the Brooklyn Public Library, visit Lectorum Publications headquarters in New Jersey to talk to product manager Marjorie Samper about her findings during the past Liber Book Fair.
Samper shows Romero and the viewers one of her favorite books, award winning Palabras envenenadas by Spanish author Maite Carranza. "It won the Premio Nacional, which you know it is like the Pulitzer in Spain", says Samper. "It is about a 15 year-old-girl who goes missing and for years they try to find out what happened to her and the pain that that caused."
According to Samper, the book is very well written,"it reads as well for teenagers as it does for adults", she says, and Romero finds that very important: "This is an age level that we really need to attract," she adds.
When Romero asks Samper if the book is based on a true story, Samper responds: "it reads like it is... but it is nice to finally find a YA book without a vampire", Samper jokes.
