First New Spanish Books Panel Meets in New York

The main objective of the New Spanish Books project is to inform professionals of the publishing industry about titles with translation rights available for purchase from Spain’s publishing houses and literary agents.

Our 2015 panel of experts, formed by Chad Post, of Open Letter Books, Esther Allen, of Baruch College, Javier Molea, of McNally Jackson Books, Margaret B. Carson, of Borought of Manhattan Community College, Marta López-Luaces, of Montclair University, Sussan Harris, of Words Without Borders and Teresa Mlawer, of Rosen Publishing met for the first time in New York on March 24th to review all the synopses and from there select the long list. This list consists of 35 titles.

The titles selected were sent to previously identified readers, who will in turn prepare the reader’s report for each book. These reports will then be sent to our panels for reviewing. The panel will meet again sometime in May to select the short list.
