conlicencia.com is an on-line sales platform for pay-per-use licensing of book, magazine, and newspaper content in Spanish and other languages.This licensing allows for the reproduction and sharing of excerpts of works in our catalogue in businesses, educational environments, and public institutions. This offer is complemented by their intermediation and title location services.
Q: It has been nearly a year since the launch of conlicencia.com. What is new? How would you assess these months?
A: We have definitely come a long way. We are trilingual platform now serving in English, Spanish and Portuguese, and in two currencies euros and dollars.
Our search engine has been improved and the buying/check out section is more user friendly.
Conlicencia is an internet-based project, which means we are forever BETA, improving every day listening to end customers and adjusting to their needs.
Our repertoire is growing by the day so we are able to offer the best. The last months have seen the project grown and complete all the gray areas that needed been cleared.
We have made the four simple steps, for any user to obtain a license and reuse any of the more than six million works that we have in our catalogue.
Q: International Development we understand is one of your next steps.
A: Conlicencia aims to be the licensing platform for Spanish in the world, so yes for us international expansion is vital. The Spanish language is widely used in the US and we want to be an alternative for all that want to be compliant.
We have strong partnerships with many different partners such as Instituto Cervantes, Madrid Network Plataforma del Español, ICEX, among others.
We are working closely with other RRO in Latin America. Singing agreements were we provide the platform and know how so the Conlicencia can be customized for each client.
We have already done this with CADRA the Argentinian RRO, and we are on the way of signing new territories that will benefit from this easy and accessible platform for Spanish speaking countries.
Q: What other tools are you using to get conlicencia out there?
A: We are actively participating in National and International Book Fairs, this allows us to get to work and improve in two important areas.
One, to gain more repertoire that means been able to offer more licenses. The other to share what we consider important for the publishing world.
We have launched a Blog only a week ago, Blogconlicencia.com “compartiendo conocimiento” we want to be to be involved and part of all the new ideas, businesses, and trends and share them with the publishing world and people who are interested in it.
Through a very interesting Study, developed by Dos Doce for CEDRO, we are now participating in very interesting debates and bringing compliance to be top of mind amongst the public.
We will be participating at London Book Fair in a round table together with Book Machine, entitled New Business Models in the Digital Age, on the 16 of April.
We will also be present at FIE 2.0 Feria Internacional del Español, it’s the first year of this Fair that includes participants in the areas of Translation, Linguistics Consulting and Technology Training, Education and Language Tourism, Contents and Cultural Industries in Spanish , Institutions and Associations of Spanish language drivers.
We are also planning to visit, Frankfurt Book Fair, Liber and Guadalajara Book Fair during 2015, to complete our international expansion.
