Essay explores relationship of American “Hispanists” with Spain

“¿Por qué España?” (Why Spain) by Anna Caballé Masforroll and Randolph D. Pope, collects the experience of some of the most renowned current “hispanists” from their own anglo training and explores why they chose Spain as a professional vocation.

Today, the authors and the publisher, Galaxia Gutenberg, are attending “Desafíos del hispanismo en el siglo XXI,” a roundtable at the Instituto Cervantes in Madrid. Also in attendance are Víctor García de la Concha, director of Instituto Cervantes; Joan Tarrida, director of Galaxia Gutenberg; José Ramón Parada, president Fundación Martín Escudero; David Gies, president of Asociación Internacional de Hispanistas; and editors Anna Caballé and Randolph Pope.
