A Resource We Love: Publishers Weekly Spanish Supplement

There has been a void in the Spanish book world since the demise of Criticas magazine.
This year Publishers Weekly magazine will release two supplements on the Spanish language book market, providing content on market trends, reviews and tips for librarians serving Latino populations.  The fall supplement, scheduled for October, will focus on children's books and will be written by Adriana Dominguez,  former children's review editor ofCriticas.

For a print copy of the upcoming issue contact Tory Abel:TAbel@publishersweekly.com. For full digital access to the Spring, 2014 issue click here.

¡Squawk Notes!
September 2014
Welcome September!  The aspens are turning in the Colorado mountains so there's no doubt that fall is here.  A customer emailed a couple of weeks ago and asked why he hadn't received Squawk Notes. It is nice to be missed but even nicer to be back!
Things have been quite busy here at Lorito Books.  We (finally!) have a new website that showcases all of our great Spanish children's book and audio collections. The new site employs an e-commerce platform, which will make adding and updating titles and inventory much easier.  Explore the new site at loritobooks.com.

Also new at Lorito is our library binding.  This option is now available for most of our paperback collection.  We are excited that these lovely paper editions will find life on a library shelf.

Also new in recent months is the addition of Editorial Amanuta to the Lorito Books list of publishers.  This award-winning publisher from Chile publishes simply beautiful books.  We have a created a mini-collection of books from Amanuta focusing on childhood games, poems and crafts, which can be found here.
Thanks for listening/Gracias por escuchar,

¡New from Lorito!
Canciones del Colibrí
(Songs of the Hummingbird)

We get lots of requests for poetry so when this beautiful book arrived from Castillo we were thrilled.  It's a collection of Latin American songs and rhymes, illustrated by the award-winning Argentinian illustrator Mariana Ruiz Johnson.

ISBN 978-607-621-014-7, 40 pages, copyright 2014.  Ages 4 and up. Library bound edition $21.95, available September 17th.   Paper $14.95, available now.  Click here to order.
Pato Conejo
(Duck! Rabbit!)
We had this book on display at our booth at ALA in June.  Many librarians shared the ways they've used the English edition in story times at their library.  Their creativity was amazing!
To start, it has Amy Krouse Rosenthal's clever humor and Tom Lichtenheld's fun and deceptively simple illustrations so it's an entertaining read.  Beyond that it can be used to teach optical illusions, perception and critical thinking skills...any many other fun learning options.
ISBN 978-607-463-913-1, 40 pages.  Ages 4 and up.  Library bound edition, $22.95.    To order, click here.  Available September 17th.
