Imagining Latina/o Studies conference received an overwhelming show of support

The conference was celebrated recently in Chicago and featured more than 100 panels and 500 participants. Adan Griego, Curator for Latin American, Mexican American & Iberian Collections at Stanford University Libraries, writes about the highlights of the conference.

“[International Latina/o Studies Conference] had been in the planning since the 2012 Latin American Studies Association (LASA) Congress in San Francisco when a group of scholars met informally and envisioned a LASA-like conference focusing solely on US Latin@ issues,” Griego writes. “The result was an overwhelming show of support with more than 500 participants addressing multiple aspects of US Latin@ culture. Many of those attending were younger scholars quite active in social media, as the Twitter Archive of #lschi2014shows.”
