RECENT HISTORY, HIDDEN HISTORY / HISTORIA RECIENTE, HISTORIA OCULTA Some of Chicago’s leading cultural institutions, led by Instituto Cervantes, are partnering to present a series of programs over the next six months that illuminate recent Latin American history. El Instituto Cervantes de Chicago en colaboración con los centros culturales más importantes de Chicago ha organizado una serie de actividades para dar a conocer la historia reciente de Latinoamérica, que tendrán lugar a lo largo de los siguientes seis meses.

Director: José Pedro Charlo. 2,872 men were jailed in the ironically named Libertad Penitentiary in Uruguay, Latin America’s largest penitentiary for political prisoners during the 70s. 2,872 hombres fueron encarcelados en la penitenciaría irónicamente llamada Libertad en Uruguay, la penitenciaría más grande de América Latina para presos políticos durante los años 70.
