The Miami Book Fair International announces its artistic program

Spain’s Cultural legacy is an invaluable contribution to the world in more ways than one. In light of the 500-year anniversary of the arrival of Ponce de Leon to Florida and the festivities going on in the state, the Miami Book Fair International is dedicating its 30th Anniversary to this fascinating and influential nation.

Over 40 authors and artists from Spain representing a variety of artistic fields will be joining us on this incredible journey. To begin the celebration, Spanish graphic artist Francesc Capdevila, better known as Max, was chosen to design this year’s poster for the fair. Max has an extensive and lucrative career as an artist of graphic novels and comics, and an illustrator.

From Monday, November 18th thru Friday the 22nd audiences will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a complete cultural experience. The fair will welcome artists from many different genres. Every night, the fair will come alive with the sounds of Spain in our very own Tablado Español, which will feature world renowned musicians and dancers.

Amores Quebrados, Terekitetap and a concert by Juan Perro are some of the musical acts that will be presented throughout the fair. We will also welcome exponents of narrative and poetry who will give us a complete picture on the evolution and current condition of the Spanish literature in the world. Reading scenes of world-renowned Spanish plays will be performed at Teatro Prometeo by graduating students of the conservatory program.

Laura García Lorca will be joining us in presenting the world premiere of La Palabra Verde – a show created especially for Miami and based on Lorca’s writings on his trips between Cuba and New York. This event will take place in collaboration and with the support of the Fundacion García Lorca, who has recognized the Miami Book Fair International as the perfect venue to debut La Palabra Verde.

Our international pavilion will open from Thursday, November 21st through the 24th and will feature literary activities for the whole family. Other disciplines such as culinary arts, visual arts and film will also be showcased during these incredible eight days.
