Synopsis

Athough we might wish to lock it away, the past always comes back to collect its due. Julia Montejo surprises us with a novel in which desire, intrigue, and suspense settle into the life of a  happily married woman. From a distance, as she walks through the streets of Madrid or has breakfast in her kitchen, Virginia seems like a woman comfortably secure in a life that she chose for herself after years of adventure: now she has Álex, a fantastic husband, two little girls who love her, and a professional career that fills her days.

You have to look closer to discover a strange hunger in her gaze, that isn’t satisfied with typical kisses and caresses. Daniel, a man who hides nearly everything behind his horn-rimmed glasses, senses that Virginia’s desires go back a long way, and from the night they meet he knows how to master them. His methods take us back to Virginia’s childhood in a city up north, in a working-class neighborhood where the houses seem like jails and anyone who flees always pays a price.
