Synopsis
En un Madrid recién salido de la guerra civil, sobrevivir es un duro oficio cotidiano. Especialmente para Manolita, una joven de dieciocho años que, con su padre y su madrastra encarcelados, y su hermano Antonio escondido en un tablao flamenco, tiene que hacerse cargo de su hermana Isabel y de otros tres más pequeños. Y pretenderá que sea su hermana Manolita, la señorita «Conmigo No Contéis», quien visite a un preso que puede darles la clave de su funcionamiento. Manolita no sabe que ese muchacho tímido y sin aparente atractivo va a ser un hombre determinante en su vida, y querrá visitarlo de nuevo, después de varios periplos, en el destacamento penitenciario del Valle de los Caídos. Pero antes tiene que descubrir quién es el delator que merodea por el barrio.
In a city of Madrid that has recently lived the civil war, surviving is an everyday hardship. Especially for Manolita, a young 18-year old whose father and stepmother have been incarcerated and her brother Antonio is in hiding in a tablao. She has to take care of her sister Isabel and the three youngest. Antonio comes up with a desperate idea to continue the resistance during the worst years of repression: to use a copying machine that no one knows how to operate to print the underground propaganda. And he intends to have his sister Manolita -Ms. "Don't count on me"- visit a prisoner that can give them the key to its use. Unaware that the shy and apparently unattractive young man will be defining in her life, she will want to return later to the Valle de los Caídos prison to visit him, only after many an adventure. But first, she has to discover who the neighborhood informant is.
