“Estamos todas bien (We’re All Fine) by Ana Penyas, emphasizes the importance of women in the untold history of Spain.

For its ‘graphic quality and relevance in addressing the issue of women in old age and the importance of women in the untold history of Spain’, the jury for the Fnac-Salamandra Graphic Award for the Graphic Novel has given the prize, worth 10,000 euros, to Estamos todas bien by the Valencian author Ana Penyas.

The organizers said that the comic, which will be published by Salamandra Graphic in November, is a homage by the author to her two grandmothers, Maruja and Herminia. The story told by Penyas follows the everyday lives and memories of two women, exploring their experiences in a post-war society under the Franco dictatorship, when women were seen only as housewives and mothers.”
