Two Italian Prizes for Javier Cercas

The Spanish writer Javier Cercas has won the 44th Letterario Isola d’Elba ‘Raffaelo Brignetti’ Prize for his novel El Impostor (The Imposter, L’Impostore, Guanda Editore)

“The Spanish writer Javier Cercas has won the 44th Letterario Isola d’Elba ‘Raffaelo Brignetti’ Prize for his novel El Impostor (The Imposter, L’Impostore, Guanda Editore) and the Friuladria ‘La Storia in un Romanzo’ Prize for his career. The Friuladria prize will be given in September 2016, during the Pordenonelegge festival (‘Festa del libro con gli autori’). Previous winners include Emmanuel Carrère, Umberto Eco, Arturo Pérez-Reverte, Abraham Yehoshua, Art Spiegelman, Alessandro Baricco, Ian McEwan and Martin Amis.”
