The United States identified as the largest market for digital publications from Ibero-America

“The news was contained in the advance release from the report on ‘Digital development and trends in Latin America’ which will be published by Bookwire in September, providing a detailed analysis of the different aspects of digital development of over 150 independent publishers in Ibero-America.

Independent publishers are increasingly less dependent on a single sales channel. While the large groups generate most of the digital sales on Amazon (60-70%), independents diversify their sales across different stores: 40-45% on Amazon, 38-42% on Apple and the rest on alternative channels such as Casa del Libro, Gandhi, Kobo and FNAC.

‘Independent Latin American publishers are paying more attention to the distribution of digital books,’ says Bookwire. 45% of sales of Latin American digital books are concentrated in the region, while the remaining 55% take place in overseas markets, of which the United States is the largest, accounting for 41% of the total. Spain comes second with 8% of the total.”
