Book Resuscitators

A publishing house rescues the works of forgotten writers who have left their mark in literature.

To speak of forgotten writers may be redundant, because –isn’t the possibility to be forgotten a trait of this precise profession? It was Roberto Bolaño who formulated this question in an interview: “I can get together with twenty writers of my generation, and they are all convinced that they are excellent, and that they are going to endure. That shows an ignorance –besides an arrogance—completely incredible. Because you can ask them: well, if you have even the slightest idea of the history of literature, how many Latin American writers from the 1870s or the 1880s are still remembered? Name twenty.” The answer, evidently, barely reached two. The Chilean writer would have loved to have known the project conceived Miguel Ángel Moreno and Joanna Szypowska, editors of Eutelequia. About three years ago, they started a publishing label with a name full of reminiscence: Círculo de Escritores Olvidados –Circle of Forgotten Writers.
