Julia Navarro goes to the dark side

Julia Navarro publishes in Plaza & Janés a novel set in New York whose protagonist is a bully who resents his own genes. Thomas Spencer is evil. It is that simple. Or that complex. It depends.

Of course, writer Julia Navarro (Madrid, 1953) has spent three years and more than 800 pages to tell the Story of a Scoundrel (Historia de un canalla, Plaza & Janés). She admits her feelings of relief after finishing a book “told from the dark side of its characters.” New York is the main setting of Spencer’s wanderings (occasionally sharing center stage with London, as well as some brief incursions in Spain), and we went to New York to talk to the author, who looks at this new stage in her literary career like someone who is looking down from the top of the Rockefeller Center: "It’s a jump into the void.”
