Caballero Bonald, winner of the Francisco Umbral Award for Book of the Year

“The author from Jerez, winner of the Cervantes Prize in 2012, won the award for his poetry collection Desaprendizajes (Lessons Unlearned).

The poet and writer José Manuel Caballero Bonald has won the Francisco Umbral Award for Book of the Year for his collection Desaprendizajes (Lessons Unlearned). Worth 12,000 euros, the award, organized by the Francisco Umbral Foundation, recognizes the best book of the year written in Spanish and published between the 1 January and 31 December 2015. The previous winners were Las cuatro esquinas (The Four Corners) by Manuel Longares (2012), La cabeza en llamas (Head in Flames) by Luis Mateo Díez (2013), En la orilla (On the Shore) by Rafael Chirbes (2014) and Réquiem habanero por Fidel (Havanan Requiem for Fidel) by Juan José Armas Marcelo (2015).”
