Hungarian writer László Krasznahorkai wins the 2025 Nobel Prize in Literature

Hungarian writer László Krasznahorkai has been awarded the 2025 Nobel Prize in Literature. In Spanish, Krasznahorkai's work is published by Acantilado.

The prize was awarded by the Swedish Academy "for his captivating and visionary work which, amid apocalyptic terror, reaffirms the power of art."

'Krasznahorkai is a great epic writer in the Central European tradition that stretches from Kafka to Thomas Bernhard. His work is characterized by absurdity and grotesque excess', according to the press release issued today by the organization. But he has more resources, and he also looks to the East by adopting a more contemplative and refined tone.
