US PANELS CHOICE

Our independent panel of experts has been formed by:

  • Susan Harris, editorial director of Words without Borders, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the promotion of cultural understanding through the translation, publication, and promotion of international literature, she is also coeditor of The Ecco Anthology of International Poetry
  • Esther Allen, Associate Professor at Baruch College, City University of New York, and Fellow at the New York Public Library's Cullman Center for Scholars and Writers
  • Chad W. Post, director of Open Letter Books, a press at the University of Rochester, and managing editor of Three Percent
  • Javier Molea, Foreign Languages Manager at McNally Jackson Books in Soho, New York
  • Marta López-Luaces, poet, writer, translator, is also an Associate Professor at Montclair SU and holds a Ph. D. in Spanish and Latin American Literatures from NYU
  • Teresa Mlawer, Executive Board Member of Reforma National Educational Foundations, has translated over 300 children's books from English to Spanish, and for the last three years has been a member of the Board of Directors of CONTEXTOS, an international non-profit organization.

These panelists have performed an outstanding job going through the synopses of over 200 titles submitted by approximately 50 Spanish publishers and literary agencies. After much deliberation they selected the long list, and these books were sent out to previously identified readers, who wrote readers' reports which were again studied and discussed by the panelists. After analysing these reports, they selected 15 titles, covering a wide spectrum of what Spain has to offer. These books meet the criteria of the very demanding and competitive American market and are perfectly suited for translation. We invite you to visit our website and read all about them, including the synopses for each title, author, reader's report and contact information, as well as details for the publisher or rights holder.
